‘There has always been a sort of imagery that resists the written word. It is drawn from the eye and the heart and is about the experience of the present moment.’ Donald Hamilton Fraser
Donald Hamilton Fraser RA is a distinguished and accomplished artist whose early contacts with the post-war Ecole de Paris in the 1950s provided a significant and formative influence in the development of his art.
As well as dramatising his subjects with bold colours, his work employs a language of visual metaphor in which abstract and descriptive elements combine to express a heightened experience of landscape and still life.
Donald Hamilton Fraser’s images lend themselves superbly to the medium of silkscreen and, alongside his painting, he has continued to produce an impressive body of work in limited edition prints. This exhibition has been taken from his own collection of artist’s proofs.
